Beer 101
What is a bock and why should you care? A full-bodied, slightly sweet, usually dark-colored German beer with a malty flavor strongly evocative of hops. American bock beers are generally less bitter and lighter in both color and body. Originally, bock beer was brewed in the fall, aged through the winter and celebrated in the spring at traditional Bavarian bock beer festivals. There's no longer any seasonal connection to bock beer. That's the what. You should care because Cody Hagan, our Co-Head Brewer, just brewed a chocolate bock that we will roll out as our next seasonal. Always a popular Spring saesonal for us, stay tuned for its release! And speaking of Cody, a hearty congratulations are deserved as he and his wife just had their first child...a bouncing baby boy, Silas. Try to get some sleep, Cody, just because you are a new Daddy doesn't mean we aren't going to be still be thirsty!
Quote of the Day
It is well to remember there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend, one's present or future thirst, the excellence of the wine, or any other reason. - Latin Proverb
