From the Brewer

Hello My Name is Ben Quick and I’ll be Your Brewer

Just like many other micro brewers out there, I started out as a home brewer.  It all started with the curiosity of wine and beer, where did they come from and how are they made.  My dad had made wine on occasion when I was young, but it was my older brother Paul who showed me how to make hard apple cider and mead.  It wasn't long before we were making beer and consulting Charlie Papazian’s book The Joy of Home Brewing.

In 2007, I was hired as an assistant brewer for the Coeur d’Alene Brewing Company. Under the leadership of brew master, Lawrence Kraus (Laurie), I gained commercial brewing experience and learned a lot from my fellow brewers. After that company closed it's doors, I continued to make beer and wine as a hobby, and was eventually offered the chance to brew for the Steam Plant once again.  In December 2012 I was hired as the head brewer.  Since then, I've had the chance to create several new beers including 4 seasonal selections and a list of others.

There has been a big increase in the number of local breweries and I am happy to be part of this new beer revolution.  More people are waking up to the benefits of buying locally produced products, and beer should be one of them.  I take a lot of pride in my craft and hope to continue brewing great local beer for the people of Spokane and all who visit.

Cheers,

Ben Quick
